The GLOUP Activity

IAPSO Pelagic Tidal Constants Data Set and Information on Coastal Tidal Constants

The GLOUP (Global Undersea Pressure) activity was accepted by the IAPSO Commission on Mean Sea Level and Tides (CMSLT) in 1999 as being an important contribution to the study of ocean circulation and tides, and was established formally as a sub-activity of the PSMSL. Detailed information on GLOUP.

Pelagic Tidal Constants

Plans have been made with the Commission for the expansion of this activity to include tidal constants from selected conventional coastal gauge sites (e.g. GLOSS sites) in order to aid tide model developments. This is especially important following the closure of the International Hydrographic Organisation tidal constants data bank. See the above link for more information on this.
