Please note: In many cases, the station position in our database is accurate
to only one minute. Thus, the tide gauge may not appear to be on the coast.
The SRD acoustic gauge at Tenerife has been replaced by a new MIROS radar sensor. Both old and new gauges were running for the period 22.05.2009-12.08.2010 for inter-comparison purposes during this time a malfunction in the old sensor was detected. A bias (mean difference) of 1.28cm between the two gauges was calculated. There was a datum change 0f 1.2cm from Oct.2012 this has been accounted for in the supplied data. See paper by B. Perez et al 'Overlapping sea level time series measured using different technologies: an example from the REDMAR Spanish network'.

Further investigation revealed the bias was due to a problem with the old Acoustic gauge. Data from this was revised. Complete dataset was re-entered onto the database.

At the request of Puertos del Estado the latitude and longitude have been revised from 28.483333 -16.233333 derived from the previously supplied degrees and minutes value to 28.47722 -16.24111 which is the position of the new MIROS gauge in decimal degrees.
