Questionnaire on the geodetic fixing of tide gauge benchmarks

A questionnaire was sent out, asking for information on the geodetic fixing of tide gauges. This questionnaire requested information on permanent/continuous GPS, GPS campaigns, absolute gravity measurements, and any other geodetic fixing techniques, such as DORIS, PRARE or VLBI at tide gauges.

SURVEY OF GEODETIC MEASUREMENTS AT EUROPEAN/MEDITERRANEAN/BLACK SEA TIDE GAUGES

1. Permanent/continuous GPS at or near tide gauges.
• At which tide gauges have permanent GPS receivers been installed? Give title of project(if applicable).
• Date of installation/receiver and antenna types/distance from tide gauge/frequency of levelling or other geodetic ties to the tide gauge benchmark/estimated accuracy of ties.
• Responsible Agency/other organisations and scientists involved.
• Give references to papers and reports describing the measurements and results.
• Give details of any future plans for permanent GPS(please keep us informed about any developments in the future).

2. GPS campaign measurements at/near tide gauges.
• Please give details of tide gauges,start and end dates of campaigns, number of hours of observations per day. Give title of project(if applicable).
• Receiver and antenna types/distance from tide gauge/details of geodetic ties to tide gauge benchmark and estimated accuracy of ties.
• Responsible Agency/other organisations and scientists involved.
• Give references to papers and reports describing the measurements and results.
• Give details of any future plans for GPS campaign measurements at tide gauges(please keep us informed about any developments in the future).

3. Absolute gravity measurements at/near tide gauges.
• Please give details of tide gauges, dates of gravity measurements, number of hours of observations at each epoch. Give title of project(if applicable).
• Absolute gravimeter type and number/distance from tide gauge/ details of geodetic ties to tide gauge benchmark and estimated accuracy of ties.
• Responsible Agency/other organisations and scientists involved.
• Give references to papers and reports describing the measurements and results.
• Give details of any future plans for absolute gravity measurements at tide gauges(please keep us informed about any developments in the future).
